Internasjonal dramadag, også kalt IDEA day, feires over hele verden den 27. november hvert år. LDS og IDEA oppfordrer deg som arbeider innen feltet til å sette i gang en drama/teater aktivitet nettopp denne dagen - gjerne for nye målgrupper- slik at de kan erfare hva det er.
Plant a workshop in your community on IDEA Day!
In 2008, November 27 was declared International Drama/Theatre and Education Day paving way for drama and theatre educationists to play an even more direct and central role in “cultivating a human education, human rights and peace for all.”
In the last year, the world has continued to be awash with unsustainable views, programmes and activities that we all know must be addressed. Now more than ever before, our voices, visions and directions are needed, in what we say and do, as artists and teachers, “to re-invent the world and save the dream”.
The solidarity from advocacy, the projects, publications and research from the 90 countries that make up the IDEA membership is needed more than ever. It is a resource we should be proud to promote and share.
The task is to use drama to promote dialogue and debate among communities; to use drama and theatre education to bring well-being and sustainability to half of the world’s population living in abject poverty, poor sanitation and different states of deprivation; to create projects and programmes where the world’s illiterate population can acquire basic education; where knowledge sharing and transfer, creativity and innovation will override the principles of competition and individualism that dominate the present world.
The world today is said to be “permanently-changing, technologically-driven and knowledge-based.” These are the realities we must appreciate and plan for to safeguard our future. Let’s continue to challenge ourselves about the place of drama and theatre education in a changing world. What innovations, sharing and adaptations we can make through technology? What knowledges and skills can we exchange to transform societies or inspire them towards a holistic life?
IDEA invites each of its members and his or her friends spread throughout the world to commemorate this November 27 by planting a workshop, scene or special performance in the school, college or university where we teach, in the community where we live – wherever we work and meet! Let the people see what we stand for and experience what we do! And let’s perform how much there is to celebrate!
